Viborg Players´ Wish Came TrueBefore the quarterfinals draw, Rikke Skov and Louise Bager Due expressed their wish to meet Russian champions Lada Togliatti. "I do no not think they play particularly well away, and I think they would suit us fine," said Rikke Skov, while Louise Bager added: "It may be a long trip, but I think Lada fit us well." The wish of the two Viborg players came true. The Champions League title holders will face Lada at home on March 17th, and visit to Russia a week later. Not the coach’s wishHowever, Viborg coach Tomas Ryde tends to disagree with his players about the opponent: "I never wish any particular opponent. I take them as they come, and in this case we knew in advance that all three potential opponents were strong teams. All I can think about right now is that it is going to be an extremely long flight to Russia," Ryde told eurohandball.com. "When it comes to telling our chances, I will have to brush up my knowledge about them first. I do know already they are going to be two quite physical matches as they have some big an heavy players in their team," Tomas Ryde added. TEXT: Peter Bruun |
