Krim did not forget the final of 2003/04

Slagelse have won the CL trophy in Ljubjana three years ago. The Slovenians are preparing for revenge.

Krim did not forget the final of 2003/04

Slagelse versus Krim: this was the final of season 2003/04. Three years ago the Danish team were stronger and reached the top of Europe. This is now all history, but what will happen in this year’s Champions League quarterfinal?
Tanja Oder was one of the best Krim players in the group phase
“We were drawn Slagelse and I think we wish to take revenge on the Danish team for the defeat three years ago in the final,” said Krim's Tanja Oder before the first leg. She added: “This is a different season, both teams have changed drastically. We know how difficult the matches will be, but our aim is to make a good result at the first match in Denmark.”

Derapsko is confident

In the last meeting of the teams Slagelse was better by one goal at home, while Krim won 36:32 in Ljubjana. Olena Yatsenko, Rugile Kliukaite, Katja Kurent-Tatarovac, Marina Vergelyuk, Ludmila Bodnieva and Natalija Derepasko were there and played against the Danes.

Krim star, Natalija Derepasko, has been recovering from a shoulder injury. She is also confident: “We will have to play extremely well in defence if we want to win, and I also see an opportunity in counter attacks. I’m not thinking about the opponent drawn because if you want to reach the top you have to beat everyone.”

Plenty of time to prepare

Krim players were happy with the three weeks’ pause. They were able to recover in a spa and after analyse the coming rival in details.

“We had a lot of time to prepare against Slagelse, one of the best teams in Europe. They have great first squad and two or three superb substitutes,” said coach Robert Begus. He added: “I am sure that these two team are really equal and only small things will decide who wins.”

The Slovenian team can count on some 120 supporters in Denmark on Sunday.
