Portland and Valladolid Prepare With Domestic Games
The men’s Champions League clubs still have a week to prepare for the semi-finals. The Spanish CL teams return to domestic competition this weekend. It was an unusual period of rest for the clubs as they got used to playing two games a week.
Portland will travel to Granollers and Valladolid will play at home against BM Antequera.
Difficult match for Portland
A match in Granollers is not an easy job for any Asobal team. Local players form a very good team, which is fighting for the Europeans Cup places every year. Krivokapic, Malmagro or Perez Canca are the stars of the team. Portland will have to play very concentrated to avoid difficulties.
Equisoian’s team is leading the Asobal League, but the advantage from ranked second Ciudad Real is just one point. As a result, no mistakes can be made…
Norwegian international Kristian Kjelling and Croatian Ivano Balic had problems this week. Balic was ill with fever, while Kjelling had a muscle injury. The MVP of the World Championship will probably play in Granollers on Saturday. This match will be also special for Albert Rocas. The Catalonian player began his career in the junior teams of Granollers and now he returns to win at home. The match will be played on Saturday at 16.30hrs in the Palau D´Sports de Granollers.
Valladolid must win
The team of coach Pastor must win against BM Antequera to get closer to the fourth place on the table. Ademar Leon have three points of advantage, and fourth position could be a ticket to Champions League next season.
Good news for Pastor: there are no injuries in the team before the decisive league games and the CL semi-finals.
However, BM Antequera need the points almost more than Valladolid. They are currently 14th on the league table with the same points as the last team so the fight against relegation.
The game will be played on Saturday at 20.00hrs in the Huerta del Rey Pavilion. TEXT: Fernando Urra Goñi |
