Reactions from Vienna

The Champions League semi-final draw was carried out in the EHF Headquarters, in Vienna. The club representatives of Győri ETO and Hypo Niederösterreich were ready to share their feelings about the draw results.

Lajos Kiss (Győri ETO KC):

All four teams would like to win the competition and we also want to. It was all the same which team we play against, just as it was all the same before the quarterfinal draw. Back then, Larvik were the most feared opponent and we won twice in a reassuring manner. I believe the chances are 50-50%.

Is there any similarity between the two Nordic teams, Larvik and Slagelse?

They both have an outstanding goalkeeper and an extraordinary backcourt player. Both teams build their strategy on them.

Is it possible for the team to make improvements in the weeks to come? Radulovic still has to regain some fitness after her injury...

We cannot expect significant improvements in the remaining almost three weeks. If we want to go on we need to show world class defensive work on both occasions.

Gerald Berger (Hypo Niederösterreich):Gerald Berger (in the middle) and other club officials waiting for the draw

The situation is the same as it was in the quarterfinals. If we play just as well as against Aalborg, we are able to beat anyone. Only one week earlier we showed the worst performance of the year. We have to be more consistent.

Is it lucky to avoid another Danish team?

It is better this way. I don’t say Lada are easier to beat, but we already played against Slagelse, against Aalborg this season, it is better to play against a team from another country as well.

What do you know about Lada Togliatti?

I have seen their game in Viborg. They play very fast handball and they were already leading by seven goals. We must be focused against them.

What are the expectations from the team?

We want to reach the final. We qualified from the “death group” to the quarterfinals, we played a fantastic game against Aalborg and we performed well so far. Our only objective can be to reach the final.
