DISAPPOINTED PORTLAND LOOK TO THE NATIONAL LEAGUEPortland San Antonio will fight for the Spanish League title after their defeat in Kiel last Friday. The team had chances both in the Champions League and in Asobal, however, they can now only look towards the national championship. The Spanish team must forget the match in the Ostseehalle and the Champions League, because they are leading in the national league but the difference is very narrow - just one point over Ciudad Real. Recovering KjellingThe worst consequence for Portland after elimination by THW Kiel is the injury that Kjelling sustained. The Norwegian player tried to help his teammates, even though he was not 100%. His aim now is to recover from this setback and face the very important games that team Portland San Antonio have in the coming days. San Antonio has one point over Ciudad Real, but they must play in the Quijote Arena, Palau Blaugrana and Palacio de Deportes in Leon. So, there are three very difficult matches to be played away from Pamplona and on courts where it is very difficult to win. The end of the season must be played almost perfect for PSA to win the Championship. History repeating itselfThe situation for Portland in now is very similar to that of last. San Antonio was not able to win any title, but was really close to gaining the Asobal League and Champions League titles. The EHF CL final was won by BM Ciudad Real easily, because Portland arrived at these matches not on top form. However, Portland wasted too much energy and the injuries did not help them to face the last matches of the Spanish competition in a better position. The situation is repeated this season. The objective of Portland is to utilize their energies in a better way and properly prepare for the matches on which the title might depend upon. The first important match will take place in two weeks. The Quijote Arena is the ready to host a match that will be reminiscent of the quarterfinals where Portland and Ciudad Real meet once again for another chance at another title.
