Book about Anita Görbicz
Though Győri ETO Audi failed to reach the Champions League Final, there is a special consolation for the club’s top player, Anita Görbicz. Her performance and personality were rewarded with a very special event: a book entitled “The Faces of Anita” was published about the player last weekend
eurohandball.com: What does it feel to hold a book written about you in your own hands? Did you read it through? Anita Görbicz: Of course I looked through the book. In fact, the supporters have seen it earlier than I did as it was published minutes before the CL semi-final against Slagelse. I have seen it in the hands of people during the pre-match warm-up and after the game. It is strange but good feeling and hopefully the supporters will get to know me better through the book. They will understand what a hard work stands behind the results. eurohandball.com: You are the best known handball player in Hungary. How can you handle popularity? Anita Görbicz: It came gradually that more and more people recognised me, asked for a signature or simply congratulated for a victory. This is a good feeling, not a burden. It often happens in Győr that people whisper behind me, but I was also stopped in Vienna or at the Oslo airport for a signature. It only shows that I’m on the right way and the supporters appreciate my performance. I never had any problem with this. eurohandball.com: Can you say that the book and the affection of the supporters is a consolation for you after the cup defeat? Anita Görbicz: The book does not have anything to do with the Slagelse game. Unfortunately things did not go well against the team of Anja Andersen, but we already have the new objective: we must defend our league title in Hungary. Our supporters - who seemed to like this book - will help a lot in this. I hope that they will read it after victories. The authors on Anita Görbicz
The authors of the book are not new on the “handball-book market”. They have already written about the history of Hungarian handball in 2004. The “Faces of Anita” is their second handball-related publication. eurohandball.com: What person did you get to know while writing the book? András Ágai Kis: I don’t think that there could be a bigger handball star than Anita in Hungary, but there are very few athletes to be compared to her at all. She is the kind of player who attracts people to the halls and who is always ready to show a new trick. The supporters remember these moments no matter what the result of a match was. Especially because of this, it was a good idea to publish this album. Gábor Levente Liszkay: It may be new to many, but Anita is crazy about football. If so, we organised a meeting with her favourite player, Francesco Totti. We were lucky and we had the “great meeting” in Rome, last December. Details can be read in the book.
