Slagelse Focus on Own JobThe opponent Lada Togliatti is not an issue for Slagelse DT when they prepare for the second leg of the Women’s Champions League Final (to be played on Sunday evening).
“We concentrate mainly on ourselves and on our own way of playing. We do not expect Lada to be able to surprise us with any new things or to improve respect to the first match,” Slagelse’s assistant coach Peter Bruun Jørgensen told Eurohandball.com.
The score is absolutely equal after the first leg in Russia that ended 29-29. The situation before the second match is very simple: the winner of the game in Brøndby Hallen will be the winner of the 2006/07 Women’s Champions League.
Lungu's back
Slagelse’s Romanian backcourt player, Carmen Lungu, who was denied access to Russia last weekend, will be back for the return match. “She will, of course, add an extra dimension to our game. I’m sure that Lada will be under an extreme pressure in front of a full Brøndby Hallen. Key to success for us is shooting against Lada’s goalkeeper Maria Sidorova somewhat better than we did in the first match. They scored a lot of goals on counter attacks after her saves,” added Peter Bruun Jørgensen.
Determined Slagelse
Slagelse are extremely determined to claim the Champions League trophy for the third time within the last four years. The comments from Anja Andersen also suggest this: “Ever since we were eliminated from the last year’s Champions League by Viborg in the quarterfinals, we have been preparing for this. The day after we lost against Viborg we started our preparations to take the trophy back,” stated Andersen. The tickets are almost sold out. As no Russian fans are expected to Copenhagen, Slagelse will get hundred percent support from more than 5000 spectators. The match starts at 19.15 CET on Sunday.
