Popovic with New MotivationThe Champions League Gala had several special guests. World class players, coaches and managers came to celebrate. The Gala also had a special guest, Bojana Popovic, former player of Slagelse who was top scorer of the 2006/07 Champions League. She was handed over the top scorer awards, gave a helping hand in the draw for the 2007/08 season and she also gave an interview on stage to Paul Bray, Eurosport handball commentator and moderator of the evening.
Paul Bray: What was it like to win the Champions League for the last time with Slagelse?
Bojana Popovic: It was my last match with the team, it was very difficult. I was sad before the game because I knew that it would be the last one. I tried to play, however, but in the middle of the game Anja Andersen asked me if I was okay and wanted to play. I said okay, and played on.
It is difficult because I loved the club, the people loved me, but things like this happen in life.
Paul Bray: Did it come to your mind during the game at all?
Bojana Popovic: Yes, it was in my mind throughout the game. At the end I was very sad and I was crying for two hours.
Paul Bray: And what about your new team, Viborg?
Bojana Popovic: I’m happy, because I will have new motivation. I want to win three Champions Leagues with Viborg to reach a total of six: maybe these will be my last chances.
Paul Bray: Are you satisfied with the group you have drawn for Viborg?
Bojana Popovic: I wanted to get exactly to this group, so I’m satisfied. TEXT: Paul Bray |
