Viborg Sign Danish International Player
To do well in the Champions League, Viborg HK have signed Mikkel Aagaard, right winger of the Danish national team. His contract will be valid for two seasons.
“He has great shooting skills, useful in counter-attacks and he is able to defend in several positions. I believe Mikkel Aagaard is a player who can contribute a lot to our efforts to create a strong team. Mikkel’s huge international experience will also be useful against the great teams in the Champions League,” said Torben Østergaard, sports director of Viborg.
Attractive Champions League
“Viborg HK is so professional and ambitious that I wanted to be a part of it. Even though a number of players have left the club, I still think we will have an interesting team next season with the players Viborg have signed,” said Mikkel Aagaard joining from Spanish Bidasoa Irun. He played for Virum-Sorgenfri, Team Helsinge, Bjerringbro FH, Skjern Håndbold and Spanish Torevieja previously.
It was decisive for Aagaard that Viborg will play in the Champions League next season. “I played in the Champions League before as a Skjern player and that was a great experience. Obviously, it is fun to play at the highest possible level, so the fact that Viborg are going to play in the Champions League, is a great advantage,” he said.
The 27-year old Mikkel Aagaard played 44 international games for Denmark and scored 83 goals. * Please note that at the time of publishing the article, the EHF Transfer Department could not yet confirm the transfer news of Mikkel Aagaard.
