Viborg Missing VârzaruNorwegian playmaker Kristine Lunde is not the only Viborg player who suffers with long-term injury problems. While the club are still looking for a solution to replace the Norwegian for at least the first half of the coming season, other problems emerge.
Romanian international, Christina Vârzaru, is still sidelined with the knee problems that have been bothering her for almost six months.
“It doesn’t seem to be okay for Christina at the moment and I really cannot say right now when she may be fit to play again. We simply have to be patient with her injury,” Viborg coach, Tomas Ryde, told Eurohandball.com.
Not looking for replacement
The absence of the 26-year old right winger may seem even more complicated for Viborg. In fact, Vârzaru’s substitute on the right wing last season was Kristina Bille Hansen who left for Aalborg DH during the summer break. However, Viborg are not planning to look for the replacement of Vârzaru as in the case of Kristine Lunde.
“We are not looking for another right winger at the moment. As long as Christina is not fit, Nora Reiche will have to play on the right wing,” Ryde said, referring to the German international who has been signed before this season. Reiche can play both the right back and right wing.
Christina Vârzaru has been with Viborg since the summer of 2005, and it is no wonder that her wishes for the coming season are the following: “I want to win the Champions League again – and to get fit soon!” TEXT: Peter Bruun |
