Aalborg Coach Satisfied with First Test

If Aalborg DH qualifies for the Women’s Champions League, the Danish squad will be there in the top competition for the third year in a row. Two years ago they reached the semi-finals, while last season they made it to the quarterfinals.

There is a great optimism in the club after a six-day training camp in Norway. The trainings concluded on Thursday evening with a narrow 30-28 from the Norwegian champions, Larvik HK. The Norwegians were also CL quarterfinalists last season and finished third at the Stelioplast Cup in Wittlich, Germany, last weekend.

Tanja Logvin played in good form against Larvik scoring sevenThe half time result was 14-14, and Aalborg were leading by two goals several times in the second half, but at the end, the home team managed to win by two goals in front of 200 spectators in Bergslhallen, Larvik. The match was turned around mainly by Larvik’s goalkeeper, Ingrid Ødegaard, who came on court for the second half to do a great job, 10 saves in 30 minutes.

Happy new coach

Aalborg’s new coach, Leif Gautestad was happy with what he has seen. It was his first test match with the team.

“I am very contented with tonight’s effort, and it is a pleasure to see our new ideas and plays so clearly on the court. Furthermore, there were several great performances from the players,” Gautestad said.

Norwegian international, Linn-Kristin Riegelhuth, scored 7 goals for Larvik – just as Tatjana Logvin for Aalborg.

The two teams may very well run into each other this weekend again. Both teams will take part at the Skjærgardslekene tournament in the Norwegian town Tønsberg. Another Champions League team, Norwegian Byåsen, will also be there.
