New record: 9,000 Champions League tickets sold in four days!

Champions League winner THW Kiel are famous for their supporters and the special affection of the fans towards their team. So it’s normal that a season ticket is difficult to buy for the Bundesliga games.

9,000 secured their tickets in timeTHW Kiel started to sell special kombi-tickets on Saturday. These passes are valid for the Champions League first group stage where Kiel will play against Hammarby, Montpellier and the winner of the qualification match between Constanta and Sasja. However, the owner of such ticket will also have priority for the latter stages of the CL if Kiel reach second round –what everybody expects.

THW opened the ticket office on Saturday morning and people were cuing to get a ticket.

Surprised manager

“I have been in Kiel for a very long time now, but I have never seen such before,” said Manager, Uwe Schwenker, after seeing the cues in front of the ticket office in the Ostseehalle.

THW Kiel sold more than 7000 kombi-tickets on the first day – last year this number was only 3,500. The Kiel’s objective was to sell all 9,000 tickets by 15 September, but on Tuesday’s evening (four days after starting the sale) all these special ticketswere sold out.

There are only 1,000 tickets available for the home fans for the home matches. They are going to be sold out in the coming days as well. Kiel start the new season just as they finished the last one: with a packed Ostseehalle.
