Ademar back on the right track
The first defeat of Ademar was painful for the team, but coach Ribera was looking for a victory soon. The next opponent for a friendly match was the traditional Spanish club, Teka Cantabria. Leon won without problems by 29-19 and showed that the defeat they suffered two days ago was only due to tiredness.
Goalkeeper Saric was the best of his team. His saves allowed the players to score easy fast break goals. If Ademar were considered a fast team with former coach, Cadenas, it seems that they will be even faster with Ribera.
Great goalkeeping, quick fast breaksThe beginning of the match was equal and Teka scored some goals from the long range. However, their lead did not last long and Saric was very effective to save these shots. Ademar began to score easily and showed their real weapon: high speed handball.
The fast breaks and second wave attacks gave a bigger lead to Ademar, 17-6 in just twenty minutes. The match was practically over in half time.
Jordi Ribera started to experiment and gave everyone a chance. Juan Jose Ruesga, brother of Carlos Ruesga, showed a good performance and scored from the back line, showing that he can be an alternative to in this position. The second half was more attractive for the fans. The pace of the game was higher and both teams scored spectacular goals.
Ademar will finish the pre-season with a last friendly match against a Spanish second division side on 11 September. TEXT: Fernando Urra Goñi |
