Bille: Aalborg gives more space for wingers
Kristina Bille Hansen left former Champions League winners Viborg HK for another Danish CL team, Aalborg DH, before this season. The Danish international player had no reason to regret her step so far. The young winger says that she works more with Aalborg than in Viborg. She talks to Eurohandball.com.
Eurohanball.com: What are your impressions about Aalborg after your transfer?
Kristina Bille Hansen: I feel fine so far. I like on and off court. I have really good relationship with all my new team mates outside the court, and I also feel that things are going well on the court. I’m part of the game a lot on the wing and in counter attacks, and I am also allowed to move inwards and make assists to our backs.
Eurohandball.com: What was the exact reason of your decision to leave Viborg for Aalborg? Kristina Bille Hansen: I thought I played too few in Viborg, and besides I was impressed by the way wingers were used here in Aalborg. For instance, I saw right winger Louise Pedersen score 10 goals in one match last season. That inspired me a lot and I really wanted to be part of that.
Eurohandball.com: You are definitely getting a lot of match practice in Aalborg DH – particularly while Louise Pedersen is injured. You play 60 minutes every time. That must be a quite new feeling to you… Kristina Bille Hansen: Yes, it is definitely a completely new feeling, and I really enjoy it. Now I’m just looking forward to Louise Pedersen getting fit again so that we can complete each other – in the Champions League and in the domestic league as well.
Eurohandball.com: Regarding the Champions League, the qualification matches are only three weeks ahead, and they will determine the entire season. Kristina Bille Hansen: Yes, it will be a decisive weekend and we think a lot about it already. We don’t do much about it yet, though, but it is definitely in the back of our minds. So far, we concentrate on doing well in the domestic matches, however, and hopefully we can use our experience in the Champions League qualifiers.
Eurohandball.com: In what do you have to improve to qualify for the Champions League group stage? You will play against strong teams such as ZRT Zaporozhye? Kristina Bille Hansen: We have to work on our defence, and improve in guarding the opponents´ pivot in particular. We will also have to improve our shots. But then again, it is still early and we have more than three weeks to go, so I am sure we will catch up with that. TEXT: Peter Bruun |
