Suffered victories for Ribarroja and Sagunto

The Spanish Women's CL sides, Sagunto and Ribarroja, started the national league with difficult victories. Both teams have time to improve until the start of the CL.


Suffered victories for Ribarroja and Sagunto

Spanish CL teams, Ribarroja and Sagunto expected much easier victories in the first leg of Spanish Championship 2007/2008. Despite troubles, they both managed to win and to start the Spanish league ABF successfully.

The championship started with victories for the CL teamsCementos La Ribarroja played against Vicar Goya in an away match. The home team started with an aggressive game that surprised Ribarroja, so Vicar Goya had the lead all the way until the end of first half. Then guests managed to take the lead at half time (12:13).

In the second half, the team of Gregorio Garcia woke up and made it 14:20 to decide the game. The team of Spanish national coach, Miguel Angle Florido, could not cope with high tempo of the guests and were defeated at the end by 24:28. Tatjana Medved suffered a shoulder injury and Goretti received a very nasty punch in the head. Fortunately they both returned in the match after a while. The best player of the match was Aiko Hayafune of Vicar Goya with 8 goals.

Difficult game for Sagunto

The journey in the Spanish Championship started in Las Palmas for BM Sagunto where they met the local team, Rocasa. At the very beginning Sagunto took the initiative and also the lead for. It was 0:6 quickly and 2:9 in 15th minute. The home team reacted and they managed to decrease the margin and first half ended 10:15.

In second half Sagunto continued to increase the margin and in 45th minute it was 16:25 already. Rocasa once again reacted with quick handball that caused difficulties for Sagunto. Amazing thing is that home team scored 11 goals in last 15 minutes, while Sagunto scored only 4! Luckily for guests time ran out and the final score was 27:29. The best player of the match was Milica Danilovic who scored 10 goals.
