Lazarov returns
Zagreb CO will start their CL season next week. The first opponent will be Ademar Leon. Last season, the Spanish team defeated Zagreb in the Cup Winners’ Cup semi-finals with a small difference.
Leon had almost perfect preparations this summer and they started the Asobal League well. On the other side, Zagreb had worse results at the preparation matches and they already lost a point in the Croatian Championship. There is also good news for Croatian team, however. A new coach, Lino Cervar, joined the team, who knows all the players perfectly – at least from the national team. But the most important news is the return of Kiril Lazarov.
In last round of the Croatian championship, he was the best player of his team.
“The most important thing for me is that I completely recovered from my muscle problems. I should have taken more time to recover last season in Veszprém, but I played the play-off with my club and the Euro qualifications with my national team, so my injury got worse with every day. This time I took plenty of time to recover completely and now I feel great. I have already done various exercises at full strength so now I’m hungry for big matches against tough opponents.”
In the second round of the championship, Zagreb lost a point in Porec.
“They surprised us, but that’s not going to happen again. We have “big names“, but now we have to show what these names mean. Lots of things happened lately: defeats, new coach arrived, injuries... Nevertheless, we will be ready for Leon.” – said Kiril Lazarov.
As the first CL encounter is also coming up against Leon, the Zagreb players also prepare for this game:
“Of course, we are totally focused on that match now. We must solve all our problems at some point and I have a feeling that this point will be in Leon. We have videos, we study them very carefully and we will be 100% ready for the job in Leon.” TEXT: www.rk-zagreb.hr |
