First Step towards the next title

THW ran over EHF Cup winner SC Magdeburg. The draw brought together two top teams in the second round of German Cup. The Kiel victory was clear already after 30 minutes. 5,100 spectators saw a one-sided game where the Kiel attack was especially one or two classes above Magdeburg.

Klein and Lövgren both did a good jobThe Kiel victory was a great advertisement before the big Bundesliga derby against Flensburg on Saturday. After a 7:5 Kiel lead, the defence of Magdeburg collapsed and it was only goalkeeper Silvio Heinevetter to keep his team in the match.

Kiel speeded up, and the opponents were not able to keep up with the speed after 12:11. The most impressive goal was thrown by Nikola Karabatic with a speed of 112 kilometres per hour at 17:12. After 30 minutes Kiel were leading by seven and after the break last year’s German Cup winner left no doubt.The new player, Filip Jicha, kept scoring and Kiel were leading by 27:17 and THW could also give some rest to the key players before the upcoming matches. Kiel did not lose a home match in the German Cup since 6146 days…
