No fear against Pick
Gorenje Velenje and Pick Szeged will play their first Champions League match on Wednesday in Slovenia. The favourites in Group H are the Hungarian champions.
"This is the strongest side in our group. It is a squad that will never stop fighting and playing as a team is one of their strongest 'weapons," said Gorenje coach, Ivica Obrvan. He can be count on all his players: the injured are all back in training.
Sebastjan Sovic, Pavel Baskhin, Thomas Gautschi, Thomas Reznicek, Ales Sirk and Luka Dobelsek were on an alarmingly long list of injuries recently. All are healthy now, but the question is how good well they are prepared phisically.
A point or two – does not matter
"Though this will be our first match in Europe this year, no one is afraid. We respect our opponent but we are going to play on Wednesday without fear. We are not thinking about the Hungarian team and we will play our own match. This is important to make a good result at the end."
The strict coach, Obrvan, adds: "Any positive result is success. A point or two, it does not matter. It is important to start the European season effectively to gain self-confidence for the next matches."
Gorenje will be really busy this week: the team travel directly to Belarus after Wednesday’s match to meet Meshkov on Friday. TEXT: Maja Mastnak, Sportal |
