Ademar draw, Portland win

The Spanish teams had mixed results over the weekend. Leon's one point in Schaffhausen may also be valuable later.

Ademar draw, Portland win

Spanish CL teams, Ademar Leon and Portland San Antonio, closed the second round with mixed success.

Ademar Leon – Kadetten Schaffhausen 29:29

The match between the Swiss and the Spanish was a great struggleAdemar made a surprise result as their match in Switzerland ended with a draw against Kadetten (29-29). Leon were the favourites after winning against CO Zagreb in the first round, but they almost lost the game in Switzerland.

Kadetten were leading in the entire match but Ademar gained a valuable point in the last second. Valcic scored the vital goal for Ademar. The Spanish side are not doing well in the Asobal and it seems that CL is their best possibility this season. The next match against Vardar in Leon will be decisive. A bad result might cause a complicate situation for Jordi Ribera, coach of Ademar.

Kadetten’s Liniger scored 12 goals. His marking was a great problem for Leon.

A1 Bregenz – Portland San Antonio 29:37

Portland did not give a chance for Bregenz in Austria and clinched an important 29-37 victory to dismiss all doubts.

Bregenz tried everythingPortland San Antonio are back on track in Europe. The Spanish needed a good victory to compensate their fans for the draw in Pamplona against GOG Gudme. Bregenz tried to avoid this defeat but it was impossible. Ruesga (10 goals) and Vugrinec (7 goals) were the leaders of Portland, while Svensson and Matosevic shared the goal of San Antonio with similar efficiency. The Spanish took the lead in the 10th minute of the game and they kept it for the rest of the match without difficulties. Schlinger and Hojc were the best players of Bregenz.
