Konkoly: Still a long way to go
Győri Audi ETO remain on top of Group A with two victories so far. Coach Csaba Konkoly talks to Eurohandball.com.
Eurohandball.com: Győr won against Ribarroja with apparent ease. Do you agree?
Csaba Konkoly: The match was difficult because we did not play an away match recently in the Hungarian Championship and now we had to travel to Spain. I was interested to see what we are capable of on an international level abroad.
Eurohandball.com: ETO have four points now and they are just one step from winning the group... Konkoly: There are four games left to go and it means that there is still plenty of work to do. This was apparent in the last ten minutes of the Ribarroja game. We are satisfied with the result, we wanted to win, but we had some bitter aftertaste for keeping only 3 goals’ advantage out of 9. We will discuss the last ten minutes of the game and then we will focus on the upcoming matches.
Eurohandball.com: Görbicz scored 12, which is telling. Are you satisfied with the others as well. Konkoly: I have to empasize the role of Vérten and Pálinger. Vérten scored seven action goals, while Pálinger saved 45 percent of the shots. Herr also showed a good form.
Tomori played well in defence and Bradeanu can also be praised. We have two kinds of pivots with Spiridon and Dokic; and it worked well again. When Dokic came in for the second half, we could take an even greater advantage. I think all these individual efforts contributed to our success and our victory was never in doubt.
It is also positive that the girls stayed calm in the last minutes when the match was tense. Unfortunately we could not score and reach back with the fast breaks, while Ribarroja scored against our wall. TEXT: Ildikó Balogh (handball.hu) |
