Tiselj confident about the future
Former Slovenian national coach, Tone Tiselj, was back in Denmark last weekend where Tiselj was head coach of women’s team, KIF Vejen. Now he is coach of Monenegro’s female national team and of Budocnost T-Mobile from. Last year, his team suffered a big defeat in Viborg with KIF Vejen and this time his team lost again, by 36-29. However, Tone Tiselj was still quite confident when Eurohandball.com met him for a chat after the game in Viborg Stadionhal.
Eurohandball.com: How do see things after your first defeat in the Champions League? Tone Tiselj: We have just met the probably greatest women’s team in Europe – and probably also the team with the largest budget in European women’s handball. Therefore the result was no surprise for me.
Eurohandball.com: Your team managed to play an equal first half with Viborg and they were only one goal down at half time. Did that surprise you? Tone Tiselj: No, not really. I knew that we had a chance if Viborg did not play in their best form, which they certainly did not do in the first half. I also knew that we would not stand a chance if they did their best. This happened after the break when we were also handicapped by many suspensions.
Eurohandball.com: After two matches – one win and one defeat – what do you think about your team’s performance so far? Tone Tiselj: I think we did very well in the first match against FTC Budapest (22-19 for Budocnost, ed.) and I also found our performance acceptable against Viborg. All in all, I’m satisfied so far.
Eurohandball.com: What do you think about your chances in the group now? Tone Tiselj: It’s going to be very difficult for us to go on from the group as our next match will be against Oltchim Valcea. They are also among the best teams in Europe and they may even play the final against Viborg at the end. However, I definitely think that we have a chance and we also have a good chance against Viborg at home in two weeks´ time. TEXT: Peter Bruun |
