Hypo remain unbeatenKometal GP wanted to "catch last train" and stay in the race for a place that qualifies from the group. Such hopes proved to be vain after losing 24-27 at home against Austrian Hypo. After six attempts, Hypo finally leave Skopje with joy. The games between Kometal GP and Hypo were full of tension and you could never predict the winner, but this time the Austrians were much superior. After the third round, Hypo have 6 points and their place in the second round is almost certain. Lada are second with 4 points. Kometal GP may hope that they could "save" the season by beating Larvik. Last season was the worst in club’s history with four defeats in a row. This season the club already lost three matches With weak defending, many missed chances and several long periods without scoring goals were decisive in the Kometal defeat. Just in the first 15 minutes, Kometal GP had the lead and then Acimovic started "bombing". Her team mate, Engler, saved many balls, and Tóth joined the duo in the second half to give Hypo the advantage. The Austrians scored after Kometal GP made technical mistakes and they failed to convert their chances. Coach András Németh could not count on reserves; he played most of the match with 6-7 players. But physically Hypo were better prepared and they could maintain the same speed for the entire 60 minutes. "I'm happy that we finally ended our bad series in Skopje. We had three good players here: Acimovic, Tóth and Engler. They guaranteed the victory for us. We stopped the back line of Kometal, and this was most the important for us," said Németh. Kometal GP fought for every ball and they tried to be back in the game. In fact, they managed to reduce gap to 17-19 in the 40th minute, but missed to score for 12 minutes and Hypo took back a comfortable lead (23-17). "We play badly in defence. We tried to close all spaces in front of Acimovic, but she always found the way to score. I think we had more chance this time that against Lada,” said Dragan Nisevic, coach of Kometal GP. It was the second game that the supporters left the sports hall before the end. TEXT: Goran Antevski |
