Popovic experiences Moraca's atmosphere again

It was not an easy game for her. Not only because of the rival, but especially because of the fact that after five years she played against her former club in the hall where was applauded many times during the four years she played in Podgorica.

Popovic (in green) had to fight hard for six goals and the draw in PodgoricaBojana Popovic, left back of Viborg, scored six goals on Friday and the match against Buducnost T-Mobile ended in a draw. She didn’t play in her best form, maybe because this game brought to surface more emotions than the others.

One of the best players of the world, top scorer of the 2006/07 CL, talks to Eurohandball.com about the game in Podgorica.

Bojana Popovic: Buducnost deserved a draw. They were supported by a fantastic crowd, the fans of Podgorica’s “Moraca” hall and they played well. The game was very nice, but we didn’t start as we should have. Our defence was not strict enough as it was the case in the first match we played with Buducnost. So, the draw was a fair result.

Eurohandball.com: What was it like for you to play in the “Moraca” hall after five years?

Bojana Popovic: In was really fantastic. At the beginning of the game I was a bit lost, because I forgot what the atmosphere in “Moraca” hall is like. I played a lot of big games, many European Cup finals, but nowhere can you find such great fans as in Podgorica.

Eurohandball.com: What was the difference compared to the first game in Viborg when you won?

Bojana Popovic: I expected Buducnost to play better than they did in Denmark. The players of Buducnost are young, they have a nice future in front of them, and they know what to do, what their target is. I know that they are training very well, and I’m sure that in the future Buducnost will reach the results that they deserve.

Eurohandball.com: You stayed in Podgorica to join the national team of Montenegro that will play a qualification tournament in Slovakia for the euro 2008. What do you expect from the tournament with the hosts, Azerbaijan, Portugal and Switzerland in the group and the best three going to the playoffs?

Bojana Popovic: We don’t yet know everything about the rivals in Slovakia, but Azerbaijan and Switzerland shouldn’t be a problem. We have to pay more attention to Portugal and Slovakia. Since the first three go to the playoffs, I think we will not have problems to make it.
