Ales Pajovic returns to Ciudad Real
Ostseehalle waved and applauded as he left: the last match of THW Kiel in 2007 (33:21 against Großwallstadt) was also the last match of Ales Pajovic in the black-and-white jersey of Kiel.
“My heart has black and white stripes now,” the Slovenian said with a smile on his face.
Pajovic was signed by Kiel from Ciudad Real three months ago until the end of the year. At that time Nikola Karabatic, Kim Andersson and Filip Jicha were injured and THW did not have many back players.
In these three months Pajovic played 15 matches and scored 41 goals for Kiel – and specially his first match for his now “old” club became historical: against Gummersbach he was told to play only in defence, but then he also played in attack and scored ten.
“I’m very happy, that I could help Kiel, unfortunately we did not win all the matches,” Pajovic said after his last match. Due to the Spanish rules, Liga Asobal clubs are only allowed to play with nine foreign players. As Ciudad had ten, they helped Kiel and allowed Pajovic to play – but only in the Bundesliga, not in the Champions League.
Now Pajovic will be able to play for Ciudad again as the Danish winger Christian Hjermind moved back to his former club, Kolding.
“I can play, therefore I go,” said Pajovic. He will play, first of all, with the Slovenian team at the Euro in Norway.
“But I will miss this great team of Kiel, that has a certain and successful team spirit. And maybe I see my teammates again – in the Champions League final.” TEXT: Björn Pazen |
