GOG: doubts about key player
GOG Svendborg TGI may be missing key player at the home match on Sunday against FC Barcelona. GOG´s fast left winger, former Swedish international Fredrik Petersen is injured and there is great doubt about him.
As GOG opened the spring season of the Danish league last Saturday with a home match against KIF Kolding – which Kolding won 35:29 – Fredrik Petersen accidentally stepped on Kolding player Boris Schnuchel´s foot. He twisted his right ankle and was forced to quit the match.
TreatmentThe 24-year old Fredrik Petersen has been playing for GOG since the summer of 2006. He could not play against Team Tvis Holstebro on Wednesday evening – GOG lost 25:23 – and the club is trying to get him fit for the Barcelona game.
“Fredrik receives treatment these days. We will simply have to see whether he gets fit for the Champions League match against Barcelona,” GOG´s head coach Ulf Scefvert told the local newspaper, Fyns Amts Avis.
On Wednesday Petersen was replaced by Danish youth international, Tobias Møller, who may also get the chance against Barcelona.
It will be some handicap for the Danes, however, if they will have to face Barcelona without Fredrik Petersen, as the elegant winger has been their top scorer in the Danish league so far this season. TEXT: Peter Bruun |
