SG Flensburg-Handewitt: someone leaves, someone comes

SG Flensburg-Handewitt started preparations after the European Championship with only a few players present: Torge Johannsen, Thomas Mogensen, Ljubomir Vranjes and Anders Eggert took part at the first fitness trainings, while the rest of the squad were just coming back from their respective national teams.

Von Behren knows that it was time to changeWith one exception: Frank von Behren was in Westfalen to negotiate with GWD Minden. Already in February with the beginning of the Bundesliga spring season the 31-year old back player will play for his new team.

“I must think about my future,“ said the German national player with 161 caps. “I want to play as much as possible and to keep my chances to play at the Olympic Games.” Frank von Behren signs a contract valid until 2010 in Minden, where he should be gradually integrated into the management of the club.

SG Flensburg-Handewitt also signed a new player to the squad. The 22-year old Sebastian Schneider signed for three years with the club.

“He is a big talent,“ said team manager Fynn Holpert. “His contract with SG will be valid by 1 July 2008, but we will try to bring him earlier to the team.”

In any case, the backcourt player will play until February for the second division club, ASV Hamm, where he scored 190 goals last season.
