Ademar win with great second half
Ademar Leon stay alive in the Champions League with a home victory against French Ivry. The Ribera team needed the points to stay in competition for the semi-finals. Leon were defeated in Russia by Chehovskie a week ago, but now they proved that they are more dangerous at home. The French are in a very difficult situation after two defeats in two matches.
The game of Ademar is not a secret to anyone: they are building on a solid defence and quick fastbreaks. This system worked out perfectly this time. Alilovic and Saric were in good form in the goal, while Urdiales, Krivochlykov and Costa scored fast goals. The things worked right for the Spanish.
Ivry controlled the game in the first minutes and the score was really close. Ademar were in the lead by one goal by the 25th minute, but things changed after that point. Ademar improved their attack and opened a three-goal gap by halftime. The French fought on in the entire second half for the points, but it was impossible. Leon began the second half very well and took a comfortable lead as Ivry were able to score only one goal in the first ten minutes. This period was key to the game.
Ademar took a nine-goal lead and the match was practically over. Luc Abalo was the only real threat for Leon that showed their best face. Jakobsen and Sarmiento scored good goals and gave good assists to the line players, Castresana and Aginagalde. Castresana was the best scorer with five goals.
Leon conserved their chances to reach the semi-finals with a 30-22, while Ivry must win every game from this point, which will not be easy. TEXT: Fernando Urra Goñi |
