Zagreb want Ivano Balic
Croatia Osiguranje Zagreb are very interested in bringing the best player in the world, Ivano Balic, back to his homeland. The only problem is his valid contract with Portland San Antonio until 2010. The compensation fee is 800,000 Euro.
Director of the Zagreb club, Bartol Kaleb, decided to end all Croatian media speculations and he talked about the matter to the newspaper Vjesnik:
“It is clear that we want Balic, and Balic also wants to come. So his arrival is a question of time. Most probably we will negotiate with Portland and with Balic, of course. But for now, it is too early to say anything.“
Recently, all Zagreb wishes have become reality. Vlado Sola, Mirza Dzomba, Igor Vori were all part of the club’s policy to bring the best Croatian players back to Zagreb. Just when everybody thought that there were no more possibilities of reinforcement, the club managers proved the opposite.
With the Croatian Euro silver medal in mind and the great victory of Zagreb at the start of CL Main Round, the Croatian handball project is more realistic than ever. The possible arrival of Balic in Zagreb can boost this project and bring great joy to thousands of Croatian handball fans. TEXT: Ivan Ambros |
