Szeged eager to play against Barcelona

Szeged coach Vladan Matic promises even greater fighting spirit against the Catalonian stars visiting on Saturday.

Szeged eager to play against Barcelona

Pick Szeged won the dramatic battle against GOG last week. There was not much time to rest as this weekend no other than Barcelona will arrive in town. Eurohandball.com talks to Pick coach, Vladan Matic, about his experience and the tasks ahead.

Present day coach Matic is a former player of the teamEurohandball.com: What can you say about this successful game against GOG?

Vladan Matic: I was sure that it would prove to be a very difficult game as my team are still not playing in their autumn form. We played with the right attitude and a lot of determination. Unfortunately, we were not in harmony tactically, also due to the fact that we could only have two trainings together before the game and we had injuries.

Eurohandball.com: Based on this experience, what do you expect from your next opponents?

Vladan Matic: I expect more from the boys against Barcelona, especially that we had not only two days, but a whole week to prepare with our complete squad. I believe that the Spanish are stronger, but not as quick as our previous CL opponents. The name of Barcelona tells a story in itself; they have 11 world class players in their roster. On the other hand, we will fight with even more determination than against Gudme.

Eurohandball.com: And what about the team?

Vladan Matic: Ghionea and Marjanac have a flu, but hopefully both players will be ready. I hope that noone will have problems before the game.
