Flensburg’s last chance
It’s going to be difficult. SG Flensburg-Handewitt lost their third game of the CL Main Round. The German team lost 25:29 after a very bad last 15 minutes of the game against RK Zagreb.
To make it to the semi-finals, Flensburg must win all three of their remaining matches and hope that no other team would win away. The team of Schleswig-Holstein region will not surrender:
“It’s not over yet,” said sports director Anders Dahl-Nielsen. “If we win our last three matches, we will be the first.”
The Bundesliga team were on the winning way for 45 minutes and they were leading by 23:19.
“It worked 100% according to plans up to that point,” said coach Kent-Harry Andersson. “We played well in attack against the 3:2:1 Zagreb defence and our defence was also okay.”
From that point it did not go according to the wishes, and the guests also had some complaint about the referees.
“Everything came together,” said left winger, Lars Christiansen. “We lost our calmness, made some mistakes and Zagreb scored easy goals and hoped in victory once again.”
The match ended bitterly for Flensburg and this mood remained for a couple of minutes. “We cannot hide behind anything anymore. Only the facts matter,” said playmaker Ljubomir Vranjes. “We will fight until the end of the season.” TEXT: Jan Kirschner |
