Tomori: Never played in such atmosphere before
Eurohandball.com asked Győri Audi ETO players, Orsolya Vérten, Zsuzsa Tomori and coach Csaba Konkoly after the game against Valcea.
Orsolya Vérten: We won because we paid attention to all details from the very beginning. Though Valcea came close by the end, it was down to our weariness and to not being able to stay fully concentrated. Luckily, this time we had a good defence and attack and our crowd also gave us a boost. Forming a team means that whenever one is not on top, the other can stand in her place. Next week we will be up to the challenge against Nürnberg. If we will play with the same determination, it cannot be a problem.
Zsuzsa Tomori: I felt that there was a bad phase of my game, but I’ve been training quite a lot alone recently, thanks to Csaba Konkoly, and I’m very happy that I had such a good day against Valcea. We get to play against better opponents in the CL and I hope that I will be in an improving form. Though Valcea are a big team, we could not lose at home in front of these spectators. They were the eighth player for us, which was a great experience for me. I have never played in such an atmosphere before. We knew that we could only win already by the time we stepped on court.
Csaba Konkoly: This victory was due to two of our sensational goalkeepers and our disciplined game in attack and defence. We won against the Romanian national team that proved themselves. Unfortunately, the assists are not recorded in handball as they are in basketball. This figure would tell that when Anita Görbicz goes towards the defenders facing her and passes the ball, the others can enter in clear opportunities. Today the others could also create many chances and they were not frightened when the best player of the world was marked one on one. I think we are in a 70-80% physical condition. I hope we will be able to build on it. TEXT: Ildikó Balogh (handball.hu) |
