Women’s CWC: Strong Romanians against CL sides
The teams coming from the CL will have a difficult time in the women’s CWC. They will have to face the leaders of the Romanian championship, for example...
BeraBera vs Vejen
The Spanish side can already be proud to get to the quarterfinals as they had to defeat Buducnost in the previous round. The Danish Vejen have well-known key players, the German Melbeck or the Danish national player Rikke Schmidt, so their victory against Leipzig was not a surprise.
Cluj-Napoca vs Podravka
The sixth ranked team of the Romanian championship can be dangerous for any team. Lungu or Ani Senocico are experienced players and the Croatian Podravka will have to keep an eye on them. It would be difficult to briefly summarise the achievements of Podravka in the EHF competitions, and they may not be fighting for a CL title these days, still they are expected to go on.
Krim vs Brasov
The Slovenian champions are just as prominent team in Europe Podravka. They were eliminated in the CL by Nürnber and this was disappointment enough for the fans. Brasov will not be easy at all in these quarterfinals: the Romanians are leading their domestic league ahead of Valcea and they have a reputation of a great side. This might be the derby of the round.
Larvik vs Havre
The Norwegians could not qualify from their CL group behind Hypo and Lada, still they are a solid team and they had a really good season last year. Though they may be the favourites against Havre, the French have already beaten Gjerpen last round, which is a good warning sign for them. TEXT: Eurohandball.com |
