Chief architect leaving Celje
The men who always stood behind his team in good and bad moments decided to leave the club he helped to build. He fell in love with handball 18 years ago as manager of the brewery Pivovarna Lasko. He helped to raise enough funds for the club every year and it developed continually. The results improved and the objectives were always greater.
The dream came true in 2004 when Celje won the Champions League by defeating Flensburg. This was the top for Mr. Turnsek, but he also celebrated 16 national titles and 15 cup victories with the players and coaches.
Now he decided to go on personal grounds:
"Together with my colleges, the coaches, players, media and the fans we built a big club. This has more value in Europe than at home. I learnt a lot. I arrived in the right moment, brought an appropriate sponsor. Maybe I’m leaving in an inappropriate time, but this is another story," he said in front of journalists, cameras and photographers.
