The 2008/09 European Cup season will start with two spectacular handball weekends. The first trophies to win and the first tests for the most successful clubs of the last season are coming up.

History of the event

Last year Zvezda had to congratulate ValceaThe Women's Champions Trophy looks back on a 14-year old history making it one of the most prestigious events of the season.

The tournament has previously come under the title of European Championship for Club Teams, or also commonly known as the Supercup. The EHF has relaunched the event under the new name of Champions Trophy in 2007, which is fitting because the champions of the Champions League, EHF Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup meet a wild card entrant to offer the public this attractive event.
