Ciudad Real defeat Portland with 7-m shotsEven without seven players taking part at the Olympic Games, Ciudad Real managed to win a tournament in San Sebastian. Ciudad Real, Portland San Antonio, Reale Ademar and Arrate played a tournament in Egia, Spain. Ciudad Real defeated Reale Ademar and Portland San Antonio won against Arrate in the first round. In the final Ciudad Real defeated Portland San Antonio with 7-m shots (30:30). Reale Ademar also made a 30:30 for the third place against. Arrate and won the game with another 7-m shoot-out. Decisive SterbikPortland started well. The team from Pamplona already took a four-goal lead. But in the last minutes Ciudad Real managed to equalise on 30:30. In the penalty shoot-out the decisive figure was Sterbik who saved the shots of Vugrinec and Kjelling. Portland San Antonio: Saric, Ruesga (5), Nikcevic (4), Masachs (1), Kjelling (5), Urdiales, Juancho Pérez (1), Nikolic (4), Vugrinec (2), Jakobsen (8), Svensson. Ciudad Real: Sterbik, Kallman (3), Parrondo, Urios (4), Kisselev, Pajovic (6), Laen (5), Morros (3), Zorman (4), Rutenka (4), Dushevaiev, Dokic (1). The Rutenka incidentAfter a quarrel during trainings, coach Talant Dujshebaev banned Siarhei Rutenka from the team. The left back apologised to the coach and to his mates afterwards. Dujshebaev commented on the incident and said that such small frictions are “normal” and it can often happen during sessions of hard work with lots of stress.
