Dominikovic out for 6-7 monthsIn second round of Asobal league, Portland San Antonio played against Alcobendas on Saturday. Davor Dominikovic was seriously injured during the game. He broke his right knee and will be out for seven or eight months. The Croatian national player and defence specialist of Portland had bad luck. In the 38th minute of the match he fell on his right knee after a shot. “My knee simply turned around and I felt excruciating pain,” said Dominiković. Croatia and Pamplona worried“It is my first big injury, it is painful, but I’m strong. I hope for a short recovery that I can return in four or six months,” said Dominikovic after knowing how serious his injury is. This accident is a major blow for Croatia preparing for the World Championship at home in January 2009. Dominikovic is also important defensive player for Portland too, so their CL season could also suffer his absence. Now they would need to sign another player, but the Asobal League has started and the transfer window will be closed until February. “It is a serious problem to lose Davor. We are looking for a new player now and we have some names, but it will not be easy. We need a similar handballer to Davor and, but it is a financial question too,” said Portland president Miguel Galarraga. TEXT: Ivan Ambros and Fernando Urra Goni |
