Handball classic coming up

The biggest game of the weekend will probably be a European handball classic, THW Kiel against FC Barcelona.

The two clubs are expected to keep fighting for the CL title. As it is the case usually when the two meet, a magnificent battle is coming up.

No more problems with the defenceBarrufet, Omeyer, Karabatic and Nagy: the stars of European elite handball met for the last time in the semi-finals of the 2007/08 CL season and back then Kiel celebrated. This time they will fight for two very important points and to decide the first place in the group.

Barcelona coach Manolo Cadenas knows the importance of the match:

“It will be a very difficult game. These two sides are the favourites of the group, but we played only two games so far. There will be many more to play,” Cadenas says.

Barcelona coach is satisfied with his team, but he also knows that they need to make improvement in certain game elements:

“We must take care about a few details. We need to improve our attacks, first of all. We scored a lot of goals last season, but our defence did not function perfectly. Now we are in exactly the other situation,” the coach explained.

Iker Romero is still unavailable for the club after an injury. The player talked about his problem recently:

“I explained the doctors of the Spanish National Team my problems before the Olympics and they told me that I was ready to play in Beijing. I believed that I was in the best hands, but it was not the case. From now on, I will only consult the doctor of Barcelona, Jose Antonio Gutierrez,” the player told a Spanish radio station.
