Hypo go on with home win

The Austrian champions dominate right from the start and take the two points with a 34-27 against Buducnost.

Hypo go on with home win

While the home fans wanted to see Hypo play in top form again, the neutral spectators expected tough rivalry between Hypo and Buducnost at the opening game of women's round 2.

The rivalry was based on two factors: the two teams prepare against each other for the CL in the Regional League and the two Hungarian coaches know each other well after working together in the past.

Németh had to leave the bench after 15 minutesThe visiting Montenegrin side appeared very cheerful and confident before the throw-off, which is due to their good form and their victory in the first round against the Spanish Elda. However, they didn't have much time to enjoy the game. Hypo quickly took a 5-0 lead, mainly with the goals of the right winger Nascimento playing in great form throughout the game.

The guests reacted well after a bad start and came closer with the goals of the young talent Jovanovic. Hypo coach Németh lost his temper at this point and argued with the referees in a theatrical fashion. He was red-carded for his behaviour.

This was the last time when the game was really close this evening. Hypo continued better - with a much better defence than Buducnost - and took a comfortable advantage (17-11 at half-time).

Tóth on court

Tímea Tóth came on court by the mid first half and she stayed on court as long as the outcome of the game was still a question. The Hungarian national player is known to be in a weak physical condition and her presence on court is limited to the very necessary level by her coach. Nevertheless, she scored six goals this game (four from 7-m shots) and gave a major contribution to the success.

On the Montenegrin side it was mainly the left back Jovanovic and the right wing Radicevic who played above the average (8 goals each), while the team's defence was far from perfect.

The second half went down as the home fans hoped: Hypo dominated and Buducnost could only stay within a 7-goal distance at the end.

Coaches' comments:

Gyula Zsiga (Buducnost): I have to congratulate Hypo. We could not come any closer after the initial minutes as we made too many mistakes. I was hoping that we could have a great day, but this was not the case. It is not tragic to lose against Hypo with so many unexperienced young players. I hope we will do better on home court.

András Németh (Hypo): I'm satisfied, especially with our good defence. We had the lead all way through and took a deserved victory.
