Nyberg: longer break

The Norwegian national player will not be ready for the restart of the CL - her injury proved to be more serious than expected.

Nyberg: longer break

Danish Champions League side, Ikast/Brande, will have to start the second half of the group stage without their Norwegian international, Katja Nyberg.

Nyberg, who had a knee operation last week, withdrew from the Norwegian national team for the EURO 2008. Originally, she was expected to be back in training after New Year. Her coach, Kenneth Jensen, also told Eurohandball.com that he was hopeful of Nyberg’s return for the first CL game against Győr on 3 January.

However, Katja Nyberg’s injury turned out to be worse than expected. Actually, the doctors examining her found no less than three different injuries in her knee. They were amazed that she was able to play handball at all…

According to the new diagnosis, Katja Nyberg is facing an 8-week break. She will miss the group matches of the CL and also many Danish league games.
