Ikast goalkeeper Camilla Eriksen will end her career at the end of the season.

Early retirement

Camilla Eriksen, goalkeeper of Ikast/Brande EH, will finish her career at the end of the season – at the age of only 25.

“An illness in the family – I wouldn’t like to tell more about this – made me realise that there are more important things in life than handball. In addition, I just finished my studies and my boyfriend will also finish soon,” Camilla Eriksen explained.

“Camilla has done very well as a keeper for us, but now we agreed that she wants to try something else. We will say goodbye with understanding,” Ikast/Brande´s sports director, Frank Henriksen said.

The young goalkeeper does not dismiss that she may return on the court sometime later.

“Maybe I will start again on a lower level and maybe I will even come back to the top level again. I don’t know right now,” added Camilla Eriksen, who has played for Ikast since 2000.

She will stay with the club for the rest of the season as she shares the duties with the Norwegain Ingrid Ødegaard in the goal.

Ikast are leading Group A with six points from three matches in the Women’s CL.
