“We must continue winning“Despite the great victory of Podravka against Larvik (32:27), Zdravko Zovko is aware that his team still has lot of work to do. Important preparations matchesAt the end of December, the Croatian Champions played four friendly games in Hungary against strong rivals such as Győr and Budućnost T-Mobile. The coach of Podravka Vegeta emphasised the importance of these matches in the victory against Larvik: “It is true that we lost Tatari there (broken nose), but we gained important information about the condition of other players.” Zovko was satisfied with the victory, but yet well aware of the situation in Group C: “There will be no use of this victory if we don't continue winning. With one more victory we could have a chance for the main round.” Podravka’s coach was not completely satisfied with the performance of his team: “Against Larvik we had again a bad period in the first half and it must not happen in Togliatti or Valcea. To win there we will need to play all 60 minutes at full strength.” Final goodbye to PalcicAt the beginning of the match, Bozica Palcic officially ended her successful handball carrier. The 37-year old pivot player wants to focus on her family now. During the match, 2 000 fans in the full sports hall of Koprivnica saluted her many times by cheering her name. It was a warm and emotional farewell from the Croatian handball legend who won Champions League with Podravka Vegeta back in 1996. TEXT: Ivan Ambroš |
