”Favourites in the final”Following the CL semi-final in Győr, coaches and players talk to Eurohandball.com. Csaba Konkoly (coach Győr): We were not surprised that they tried to switch some of our key players off. Nevertheless, our attacking play went so much according to plans that we were able to start the second half with a three-goal advantage. I told the girls at half-time to continue playing as if the opponent had the lead. Actually, I heard this sentence on TV from Veszprém’s Eklemovic today and I liked it a lot... We needed a sensational defence and also the brilliant performance of Katalin Pálinger. We also had Anita Herr and Anikó Kovacsics who added important goals. We were a real team We wanted the success a lot and we gave a response to those who had doubts in Hungarian teams. ---------------------------------------------- Anita Herr (Győr): We expected a lot closer game, but our defence was good from the start and we could convert our chances. We were definitely better today. We received great support from the fans and we also gave our best. This is mirrored by the result. ---------------------------------------------- Katalin Pálinger (Győr): I would summarise it as follows: ETO are better than Hypo. I had no doubts in our team. The most difficult was the period before the game and the anxious waiting. We were confident in defence and it gave me strength. We excelled as a team today. ---------------------------------------------- András Németh (coach Hypo): We had no chance this time. We could not put our tactics into practice and it makes me disappointed. We were slow and we lacked courage today. If we build our tactics upon one player and she has a bad day than it can end like this. Oh had no luck today and the others could not take the responsibility over from her. Győr did much better than I expected, so I have to say that they will be the favourites in the Final. TEXT: Ildikó Balogh (handball.hu) |
