Anja Andersen signs her former player. FCK seems to be stronger than ever...


Lungu back in Denmark

Cup Winners’ Cup winner FCK Håndbold has reinforced their team in order to reach the group stage of the Women’s EHF Champion League and to win the Danish championship for the first time in their history.

After previously signing right back and Norwegian international Linn Kristin Riegelhuth from Larvik HK and playmaker Christina Krogshede from Danish league rivals Randers HK, FCK have now signed a one-year contract with Romanian international Carmen Amariei Lungu.

Lungu used to be highly successful with SlagelseThe versatile right handed backcourt player was part of the team of Slagelse DT winning the Champions League in 2006 and 2007. Back then, former Danish international Anja Andersen was coach of Slagelse just as now in FCK.

“Carmen was one of the absolutely best backcourt players in the Danish league when she played for Slagelse. I am really looking forward to working with her again. She is an extremely experienced player who will give us new options in defence,” Anja Andersen said.

High ambitions

“I am really looking forward to returning to the strongest league in Europe and I feel that FCK have high ambitions. This suits me very well. It will be nice to work together with Anja Andersen again,” the 30-year old Carmen Lungu said as her contract with the Copenhagen team was announced.

In the upcoming qualification tournament for the Champions League, FCK are in Group 4 of the second qualification round. The opponents are Budapest Bank FTC, Ukrainian champions HC “Smart” and a team from the first qualification round. If Anja Andersen´s team passes this hurdle, Group D of the group stage will be waiting them. Here, the opponents would be Russian HC Dinamo, Norwegian champions Larvik HK –FCK defeated them in the CWC Final last season – and Budocnost T-Mobile from Montenegro.
