Pastor satisfiedThe Spanish Pevafersa Valladolid will return to the Champions League after one of the best seasons for the club. The Cup Winners’ Cup title and the third place in the Asobal League showed what a talented team the coach Juan Carlos Pastor has. Pastor is a strong leader of the team. His ideas about handball worked well when he took the Spanish national team to a World Championship title in Tunisia. In Valladolid he formed a completely new team including fresh blood and experienced players. “We have to forget last season and try to keep playing on a similar level,” Pastor explained. The Spanish coach is convinced that cohesion within the team is above all. “We have to form a group, a team. We need to have confidence in our work and we have to use our chances. We can only do this through a careful daily work,” he added. The objectives are bigger every season. “We always face big challenges and this year will not be different. We will try to adapt the new players as soon as possible to the team and we look forward to working with them. I’m very satisfied with the team for the new season,” Pastor admitted. “While we wish to play in the Champions League, we must not forget about the Spanish League either. We need to take victories in the first games in Constanta and Zaporozhye. Travelling to Montpellier and Chekhov will be very strong rivals,” Pastor explained. The Spanish coach talked about the style of the team as well: “We have to stay strong in defence and try fast breaks. We can always perform well under a lot of pressure”. The coach can count on a very experienced goalkeeper. The Swedish Svensson left Pamplona in order to experience the Champions League atmosphere again. TEXT: Fernando Urra Goni |
