The former Leon player was on the Spanish "most wanted" list.

Sarmiento: an exceptional talent in Barcelona

Dani Sarmiento was the revelation of the last Asobal League season. The playmaker was always known as a talent, but his great season in Leon elevated him to the rank of the best player of the Spanish league.

He showed his exceptional skills on more occasions in Ademar and Barcelona paid attention to him. During the winter break, the former Barca coach Manolo Cadenas gave the advice to bring the player to the Catalonian club. The deal has become a reality this summer.

Slightly irregular position by SarmientoAfter the initial weeks as “cule” Sarmiento talked to the official website of Barcelona. “It was very easy to adapt to the new club. It is a great team and very good guys. They help me a lot. I played against them, so I knew them from the corridors of the arena”.

He left Leon for Barcelona at the end of a tiring season.

“The first year is always difficult for a player. You have to adapt to the trainings, to the playing system and to the new players… I will work hard and I will give my best,” Sarmiento said.

“Dani” talked to Xabi Pascual about the upcoming season.

“The coach told me that he wants me to play as I always did. It is important for me because it gives me a lot of confidence. I’m here because of my past performances and it would not make sense to change my style. I feel good here”.

The new player also had a few words on the team mates:

“I think Barcelona signed very good players. Perhaps Igropulo is not so famous in Spain, but he is young, strong and a big talent. I don’t need to say anything about Rutenka and Saric, everybody knows them. In addition, Barcelona had a great team last season and we have a team for great things this year”.
