From second division to CL in two years

The team of Duško Milić reached the CL qualifications only two years after the promotion to the Serbian first division.

From second division to CL in two years

After leaving Budućnost T-Mobile in 2006, the Montenegrin coach found new challenges at the Serbian club Vrnjačka Banja.

The club was established in 2000 and they entered in Serbian first division in 2007. When Milić arrived, the club had ambitious goals. The results in the following seasons were even better then expected.

Champions of Serbia

Already in 2008 Duško Milić took his team to European competitions (Challenge Cup quarterfinals). The same season the Montenegrin coach won Serbian championship too – for the first time in the club's history.

This was not only a success for the handball club, also for the entire community because this is the first club that ever brought a national trophy to Vrnjačka Banja, a famous tourist destination in Serbia

Ready for new challenges

Duško Milić continues writing history and his team will soon make debut in CL qualifications. This will be his come-back in CL after three years.

Next weekend Vrnjačka Banja will travel to St. Gallen to play against Sassari and Brűhl in QT1. Milić is optimistic:

“I am convinced we can progress to next round because I think we simply have a better team. But in QT2 it will be totally different story. We can get Byasen and Brasov or FCK and FTC. These teams are simply on a higher level. These matches will be invaluable experience for our young players.

"Important thing is that we had good preparations with strong matches in Romania who have been very helpful to us. For sure we will be ready for following CL challenges.“
