Altogether 23 men's and women's teams will step on court this weekend to play for the available places in the EHF Champions League.


Qualification Tournaments open 2009/10 season

With the signal of the Polish Solodko/Solodko referee couple on Friday afternoon at 16:30 in Amsterdam, the new EHF Champions League season will officially begin.

This weekend, 4-6 September, will be used by the teams for qualification games. In the men’s competition, the winners of five Qualification Tournaments will join the 19 teams already drawn for the Group Matches.

The ladies will also step on court to play the Qualification Tournaments 1. The winners will advance to QT2.

Altogether 23 teams will step on court this weekend including top European clubs such as Reale Ademar, TBV Lemgo, Celje Pivovarna Lasko and Kadetten Schaffhausen meeting in Leon, Spain, for the Wild Card Qualification Tournament.

Press Conference

As the last games are played on Sunday evening, all 24 teams of the EHF Men’s Champions League will be known soon. The European Handball Federation will host a press conference in Cologne on 14 September 2009 to provide information for the public on the upcoming season including the highlight event, FINAL4, closing the competition.
