Ivan Čupić suffered a serious injury in April when his cruciate ligament was during a game. Five months and many therapies later, the Croatian international is back on court.

Despite his bad luck with injuries (finger injury kept him away from Beijing), the 23-year old already won silver medals at the EURO 2008 and at the 2009 WCh. After an excellent performance at the World Championship in Croatia he was nominated in the all-star team as well.

“I was extremely hungry for handball and I’m glad to come back just before the start of the CL. I played 60 minutes last match in the Slovenian championship. Everything is okay, I don't have problems and I don't feel pain. My knee was examined after the match; there was no swelling so I am ready," said Čupić.

Celje defeat Gorenje

After two rounds played in the Slovenian league, Gorenje have only one point. In the second round they were defeated at home by Celje (27:28). The best scorers of Gorenje were Čupić and Rnič with seven goals each.

In the first round of Group B, Gorenje will travel to Kielce. The Polish team will have great support from their fans, but the return of Ivan Čupić will be a boost for the team of Ivica Obrvan.
