Bøhn: no worries!Karl Erik Bøhn, head coach and sports director of Larvik HK, was not particularly unhappy after the first defeat of his team. Larvik lost 23-19 away to FCK Håndbold, but the Norwegians are still on top of Group D. A confident coach talked to eurohandball.com after the match. Eurohandball.com: What was your reaction to your first defeat this season? Karl-Erik Bøhn: We didn’t play too well, especially in attack. FCK deserved to win. It was obvious that they were well prepared for us; however, we are still one goal better than them with regards to the direct encounters and that may be important at the end. Eurohandball.com: Looking back at your team’s first four matches, what is your summary so far? Karl Erik Bøhn: I’m really satisfied. We did very well so far and we are in a fantastic position in our group. Simply winning our home match against Buducnost in the New Year would be enough for us. Eurohandball.com: Did your team play better than you expected? Karl Erik Bøhn: At our away match against Buducnost and at home against FCK we played better than I had expected. On the other hand, we actually played below our usual standards against Dinamo at home and away to FCK. We also had problems with our attacks at some Norwegian league games recently. Eurohandball.com: Is there any particular explanation for these shortcomings in attack? Karl Erik Bøhn: Many of our players are tired and worn out by now. We had many illnesses and this means that some players had to work extremely hard. Sometimes we were only able to play three against four at trainings. At our first three CL matches I was only able to use 11 players per game… In the near future, some five to seven players from my team will travel to the World Championship, so there will be little rest for them. Eurohandball.com: What will this mean in January? Karl Erik Bøhn: The two games will be tough, but all CL matches are tough anyway. However, we are in a good position and one more win would be enough surely advance from our group. TEXT: Peter Bruun |
