Boldsen to leave BarcelonaFormer Denmark international Joachim Boldsen is going to leave FC Barcelona this summer after two years in the Spanish Champions League team. The 31 year old playmaker and defence expert is returning to Denmark to join second league club AG Håndbold on a three year contract. AG Håndbold, a club in the suburbs of Copenhagen, is leading the second best Danish league – the 1. Division – with maximum points and is expected to play in the top league next season, where the ambition is to be in the top of Danish handball. "I have chosen to join AG, as it is a club with unique ambitions, and a club, where I can be part of building up something new. I am really looking forward to being one of the pieces in the great puzzle which is hopefully going to make AG a constant part of the Danish top," Boldsen said, as he was officially introduced as coming AG player. "I was offered an extension of my contract with Barcelona, but neither my family nor I were in doubt that AG would be the right choice," Boldsen added. European champions reuniteJoachim Boldsen, who has played 186 internationals for Denmark, was part of the Danish team who won the EURO2008 in Norway. But after the Olympics later that year he chose to leave the national team in order to concentrate on his club career. In AG Håndbold he will be team-mate with another European champion, Lars Jørgensen who joined the club from Spanish Portland San Antonio before this season, and who still plays in the national team. "It will be great to get to play with Lars Jørgensen again – and also with other former national team-mates such as Klavs Bruun Jørgensen and Peter Nørklit," said Joachim Boldsen who scored 405 goals for Denmark before leaving the national team.
